Im writting an essay and would like to know some resons why it is safe or or not to have a gun?GUN CONTROL do you think it make you more or less safe to have one?
Your in in home in bed. All of a sudden you hear some glass breaking from down stairs. What would you rather do:


1. Call the cops.


2. Call the cops while grabbing your .357 magnum.





I would rather be able to protect my family and myself in an emergency like this than just wait for police to arrive. Gun Control only controls LAW ABIDING people from guns. Criminals by definition will not obey new laws.





Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. That is if you were able to call to begin with.

You are much more safe if you have a gun and know how to use it. Higher gun ownership rates generally lead to lower crime and murder rates. Washington DC, where guns are banned, has the highest murder rate in the country.





Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.
You see it boils down to one simple equation-will you be safer and your family safer if only the criminals are allowed to have guns? You see weather we like it or not, the law abiding citizens are the only ones that will be disarmed if gun control rears it's ugly head over here. I have a counter solution for the problem- let all the law abiding have their guns, because they commit no crimes, and let's take the guns away from the criminals! Isn't that brilliant! What a stroke of genius! But wait! The counter point will be made that it can't possibly work like that. Ahh, but you see if it can't work like that, then it can't possibly work in the reverse situation either. Back to square one. If gun control is enacted , only the criminal element will have guns- that wont be good, I assure you.
Statistics show that cities with strict gun control laws have a higher rate of violent crime than cities that don't ban guns.


Cars kill as many people each year in the U.S. than U.S. soldiers were killed during 4 years of World War ll, but you don't hear about banning cars.


If laws were enforced, criminals tried in a reasonable time frame, sentences carried out, and prisoners not released early, the crime rate would drop dramatically.
When guns are outlawed..........only outlaws will have guns. That is the #1 reason thugs do not barge into every house on your street now, gun ownership. If they outlaw having guns thugs would not think twice about just walking right on in someones home and doing as they please. I do not hunt or shoot guns at a shooting range or anything but......I have one for my families protection only
Tell you what, come try to break into my house tonight and I'll answer all your questions on that subject.








Oh, and ';M'; how many of your fellow former IRA Irishmen still have that AK47 or L1A1 hidden under the floorboards? Where do you think THOSE came from? Look in your police's automobile trunks. You'll find SMG's there!

How can you argue the ';logic'; the left wing has on guns? It beyond amazing.
The problem is that the stock in trade scenario that the gun crazies use to justify their gun ownership is bogus.


The gun crazies love to tell all who listen to their nonsense that biggest threat to the safety of themselves and their families are The Outsider, The Criminal, The Stranger when in fact the biggest threat to you and your family are members of your family ,your friends, your business associates. People who you have invited into your life and are close enough to kill you because you have given them tacit permission to be there.


It's a well known fact that most people who shoot and possibly kill each other know each other


So what's the gun crazies solution to that ? Having loaded weapons sitting next the silverware as part of the NRA [the one that uses guns %26amp; not knives ] standard table setting?


Speaking of bogus :Citing the number of deaths due to gunshot wounds is a meaningles number and the reason that is is because the medical staffs at big city Level 1 Trauma Centers have seen so much carnage due to gunshots that the combination of sheer repeition and the develpment of new techniques has allowed them to save a lot of people who would otherwise have died.


The downdside of that is if the victim is uninsured the cost of his care to the taxpayer gets really expensive really fast


I know for a fact there was a guy in Chicago that got shot 28 times with a 9mm pistol and lived to tell the tale %26gt;I have no idea what that guy's cost but long term it had to be in the millions.
I think the whole idea of the Americans being able to carry guns is a stupid law that has been embedded into the american constitution for years. the right to bear arms is seen as a good thing in america that is why they have the highest death rates related to guns in the world. (not good) However to answer the question i think that owning a gun would provide a level of security and in america you have the right to shoot someone that enters your property illegally. interesting topic to choose because the american people are going through this massive debate on whether it is a good thing or not. Lobbyists are trying to stop it and the gun manaufacturers are trying to keep it saying that not allowing them to have guns breaches human rights. whoever wins remains to be seen.

I can't imagine what my country would be like with firearms being sold as openly as in the states. Not even our regular police carry them. It's not that it's against the law, it's just the majority of irish people don't think about it.
Guns are like pea shooters, against the enemy of today. They're a magnet for SWAT team targeting. Use your mind to research, your hands to write and distribute information and your heart to get access to God, as needed.
